Saving Money Using Freelance Programmers Will Cost Big
Money in the Long Run
You might save a little money here and
there but you will end up with a real birds nest of a website.
There are many talented folks with
great programming skills. Problem is there is no documentation
or safety controls in place to make sure you don't get burned
along the way.
Here are some important questions
you should ask yourself.
If you hire someone to work on your ecommerce
website; is your customers data going to be safe on someone
else's laptop or computer?
If you give a programmer access to hosting
server; are you absolutely sure they are not going to become
the conduit for malware or viruses getting into your website
and hosting server?
Will your programmer be around when your
application stops working or develops bugs? Sometimes hosting
companies may change firewall or security requirements in
order to thwart some new virus or to increase security overall.
This can also cause a program or database to break.
If your programming code has been stolen,
or code snippets have been used without permission (programming
code can be copy-protected or even patented); will you have
legal recourse under your contract agreement with your programmer?
If this happens, YOU will be held responsible; not your programmer.
If your programmer is not available to make
changes or enhancements, have they provided you sufficient
white paper documentation?
Any one of the situations listed above
can happen. Clients have brought us web site programming projects
that look like they were assembled by Dr. Frankenstein.
To avoid this you should a company that will be around to
support you and your business long after your website has
launched.
